Career
society
Huysegems started his career at Lierse SK . Since the summer of 1998 he was part of the club's professional squad. After the end of the season he won the Belgian Cup with Lier. After the young player at the time only made three appearances in his first year, he made his breakthrough at the top division club in the following season. With 16 goals in 33 games in the 2002/03 game year, he proved his qualities and attracted the attention of the teams of the Dutch neighbor. Shortly after the start of the 2003/04 season, the offensive player moved to AZ Alkmaar . With Alkmaar he reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup in the 2004/05 season and was third in the Dutch championship. In the 2005/06 season he was runner-up with Alkmaar. In the 2006/07 season he moved to Feyenoord Rotterdam . There he was supposed to replace the emigrated Salomon Kalou . After a year, the attacker transferred to FC Twente Enschede . During the winter break of the 2008/09 season, Huysegems decided to return to Belgium. There the KRC Genk secured the services of the striker. At the beginning of the 2010/11 season he moved back to the Netherlands on loan for the remainder of the season, this time to Roda JC in Kerkrade , where he only played 17 games in total due to injuries and stiff competition from Mads Junker and Morten Skoubo mostly completed as a joker. He scored one goal each in the Eredivisie and in the cup competition .
In August 2011 Huysegems moved back to his "home club" in Lier. However, the Belgian federation forbade him to compete for Lierse SK because his contract with KRC Genk had been terminated after the date set for June 30, 2011. After he was finally able to play for Lierse in the second half of the season, he joined Wellington Phoenix in September 2012 , the New Zealand participant in the Australian professional class A-League .
In 2014 the striker joined the then Belgian second division KFC Dessel Sport and two years later moved to the amateur club FC Berlaar Heikant , where he ended his active career in summer 2019.
National team
Huysegems is Belgium's national team . In 2004 he made his debut in the senior team of the red devils. He was previously a U-21 selection player . With the U-21, the striker took part in the U-21 European Football Championship in 2002 . Huysegems was only used in the last group game against the team from France .
