With the start of radio work in 1948, the voice of hope was one of the first Christian radio stations in Germany ( private station ). Voice of Hope was founded as a German-speaking branch of Adventist World Radio .

history

The Voice of Hope goes back to the Voicest of Prophecy , founded in 1929 as an Adventist broadcasting mission . Voice of Prophecy had bought airtime at Radio Luxemburg , in 1948 the German branch was founded by HG Stoehr based on the idea of HMS Richards. The first manager in Berlin-Zehlendorf was Max Busch, the programs were produced in Paris . From 1948 to 1985, the Voice of Hope program was broadcast on Radio Luxembourg . Due to the audience feedback, a Bible Correspondence School (BKS) with free correspondence courses was founded, the forerunner of today's Hope Biblical Studies Institute. The Friedensauer Bild- und Tonstelle was founded in 1956 to supply communities in the GDR and Eastern European countries . In 1959, the voice of hope moved to Darmstadt , from then on the programs were produced in its own studio. In 1961 Erwin Berner took over the management, the BKS from then on was headed by Oswald Bremer, later by Wilhelm Räcker. In 1964 the Adventist hearing library for the blind was founded in the FRG . In 1965 the Friedensau Bible Lessons and a hearing library for the blind were founded in the GDR. In 1966 Erwin Kilian became head of the Voice of Hope , followed by Arno Patzke in 1978.

From 1971 various other European shortwave transmitters were added. From 1971 to 1992 it was broadcast on Radio Trans Europa (Portugal), 1975–78 on Radio Mediterran Malta, 1979–1981 on Radio Andorra , since 1985 on Adventist World Radio (Forlí, Italy) , 1992–1996 on Radio Moscow , 1994– 1998 via Radio Slovakia International and most recently until 2007 via Radio Austria International .

From 1992 the original institutions in the GDR were incorporated into the Voice of Hope (1992 Biblical Study Institute, 1994 Blind Hearing Library and Image Center Friedensau). In 1993 Günther Machel took over the management. The first video productions were made in 1994, in 1997 the company first appeared as an Internet provider , and in 1998 radio and television broadcasts began to be broadcast via satellite.

In 2002 Matthias Müller took over the management of the media center as managing director .

Live broadcasts were carried out for the first time in 2003 for the ecumenical year of the Bible . Since the German media landscape was opened to private radio in 1983, broadcasts have been carried out via numerous local private broadcasters. In some cases, Voice of Hope also appeared as its own licensee for local radio.

In 2004 the construction of a new media center in Alsbach-Sandwiese near Darmstadt began. The foundation stone was laid in March 2006. The Internet broadcaster "Go 7" began broadcasting in 2003, and in 2007 the 24-hour program Hope Channel Radio, which is now broadcast via the Eutelsat Hotbird 6 satellite in addition to the Internet. At the end of 2006, the voice of hope began operations in the new media center.

The Media Center received on 18 February 2008 by the Hessian Regulatory Authority for Commercial Broadcasting and New Media (LPR) admission to the nationwide transmission of their 24-hour Hope Channel - radio programs via satellite and Internet .

In January 2009 the commission to determine the concentration in the media sector (KEK) granted the media center “Voice of Hope” approval for its own new television channel “ Hope Channel Deutsch” for digital distribution via the ASTRA satellite and on the Internet. The license for a nationwide broadcast of the specialty television program was previously applied for from the Hessian State Authority for Private Broadcasting and New Media (LPR Hessen). Many years earlier, the voice of hope had regularly delivered broadcasts to the multilingual "HOPE Channel Europe" as well as rheinmaintv and Kabel BW . Since the start of its own 24-hour television channel ("HOPE Channel Deutsch"), the focus has been on German-language programs that are produced and managed in the in-house studios and editorial staff in Alsbach-Hähnlein. Later the HOPE Channel radio and television program could also be received regionally via cable (e.g. EWE TEL GmbH , wilhelm.tel , S + K Servicekabel AG etc.)

In 2014 a “generation change” was initiated in the Voice of Hope . Pastor Klaus Popa (38) replaced the previous managing director Matthias Müller (61), and Sven Fockner (36) took over the management of the International Biblical Study Institute (now the Hope Biblical Study Institute).

Since September 1, 2015, the voice of hope television broadcaster "HOPE Channel TV" has been broadcasting its programs in HD quality.
