Mundenheimer Strasse was laid out in 1762 as a wide connecting road between the Mannheimer Rheinschanze , Mundenheim and Mutterstadt (so-called Weinstrasse). It begins in the Mundenheim district as an extension of Oberstrasse, runs through the entire southern district and ends at Bleichstrasse.
The southern section between Rheingönheimer Strasse and Adlerdamm was originally called Hauptstrasse, the rest of the area was named Mundenheimer Landstrasse in 1885. It has had its name in its current form since 1906.
In the middle section, the Südweststadion , the Raschig factory site and large buildings from the 20th century determine the street scene.
