Stratosphere Tower
The Stratosphere Tower is the tallest free-standing observation tower in the United States at 1149 feet and houses the Top of the World Restaurant on its observation deck . The tower or revolving restaurant rotates once around its axis within an hour and offers a complete panoramic view of Las Vegas and its surroundings, as far as the Spring Mountains and up to the 3,630 meter high Charleston Peak .
Above the viewing platform, from April 30, 1996, was the High Roller roller coaster located at a height of 280 meters , which was the highest roller coaster in the world until December 31, 2005 and has since been completely dismantled. With the Big Shot you can be catapulted 40 meters up the tower mast, then you return in free fall to the starting point, high above the rooftops of Las Vegas. With Big Shot , 4 g act on the driver, at the top you are weightless for a short time. The third attraction on the roof of the tower (since 2003) is called X-Scream . With the ride Insanity - The Ride , a kind of chain carousel, you have a clear view into the depths. In 2005 there was an incident in which visitors had to hang out over the edge of the tower in the ride for 1.5 hours because an emergency stop was triggered due to strong winds.
Since April 19, 2010 the Stratosphere Tower has offered the highest sky jump in the world.
