The Stuttgarter Kantorei is a choir with around 80 semi-professional singers under the direction of Stiftskantor Kay Johannsen , who founded the choir in 1994. The Stuttgart Kantorei mainly gives concerts in the Stiftskirche Stuttgart u. a. with the Stiftsphilharmonie Stuttgart and the Stiftsbarock Stuttgart (baroque ensemble), organized by the Stiftsmusik Stuttgart .
The repertoire of the choir extends to choral symphonies, oratorios and a cappella literature. One focus of the work is on compositions from the 19th and 20th centuries. From 2011 to 2021, the Bach: vokal cycle will perform all of Johann Sebastian Bach's sacred and secular works .

Awards
At the German Choir Competition in 2006 the Stuttgarter Kantorei won first prize in Kiel, making it the best participating choir in Baden-Württemberg in all categories. The work of the Stuttgarter Kantorei was already recognized by prizes at the state choir competitions Baden-Württemberg 1997 (2nd), 2001 (2nd), 2005 (1st), 2013 (1st), 2016 (1st) and most recently in 2017 (1st) .) honored.
