action

It's a nightmare for Charlie McCready that his daughter Wendy is with her childhood sweetheart, Bart. He thinks the sun boy is a no-brainer, which is why he desperately wants them to separate. But Wendy doesn't listen to him, and neither does his wife Sue want to hear of the criticism that Bart could possibly soon be the son-in-law. So he tries to get closer to his daughter in order to understand her better. But he fails on the beach and embarrasses himself in front of all the young people while playing volleyball, football and water skiing. Everyone can have a lot of fun with him, and Charlie has achieved nothing.

A little later, however, he learns that it is possible to have both sent to different colleges. With the help of his work colleague Ira Kushow, he can forge a scholarship that he pays out of his own pocket so that Wendy does not go to the Powder City State College , but to the prestigious Huntington College . When she then starts there, he wants to check that everything is okay, which is why he is flying there. However, since he is not allowed to see her by Mother Barlow, he has to illegally gain entry to the dormitory, but he finds the wrong room and is arrested as a tensioner. After he is taken out of the cell by Bart and Wendy, he confesses his worries to her. But she thinks everything is fine.

But that only seems to be short-term, because to Charlie's horror, she's now also studying art, which really upsets him. Only a phone call that she met a young man who will please him calms him down again. It's Roger Rhinehurst, son of a senator, law student, and vice president of his class. Everything seems to be going well, until Wendy's friends and an angry Beard show up, who tries to confront Charlie after realizing that the scholarship was wrong. Wendy is horrified how her father was only able to betray her, which is why she leaves and doesn't want to know anything more about him.

But he soon hears from her, because one of his clients, Cyrus Hershberger, is on strike by some of the harbor residents and receives major media protests against himself, who can also be seen on television. When Charlie wants to discuss this scandal with his daughter, however, he has to hear that she has long been in even greater trouble, as she accidentally got engaged to the protest leader Klutch. And she can no longer reward herself, otherwise he threatens suicide . So Charlie goes to Klutch, where he wants to solve this problem. There he is attacked by Klutch and rescued by Bart. Charlie is grateful to Bart and learns that he had the only Huntington's disease scholarship available, so he knew immediately that Wendy's scholarship had to be wrong. Charlie realizes that because of his love for Wendy, Bart gave up his precious scholarship to study with her at State College. Moved by this, he gives his blessing for the wedding between Wendy and Bart.

criticism

Superdad - Papa is the greatest , [...] played by a few unattractive and untalented actors who looked like they were scrap from go all out! , is about a father who tries to get closer to his teenage daughter by waterskiing and disrupting her college plans. The film is shabby, stupid and doesn't meet any family standards, but it's enough that "you-know-who" ( Walt Disney ) would turn in your grave under Disneyland. "

"The dusty work is just super stupid"

"Lifeless family comedy that suffers from its simplicity and its hopelessly outdated production."
