Vineta is a suburb of Swakopmund in Namibia . The district is located in the north of the city and extends for about 3 km along the Atlantic coast. In the east it borders on the C34 and the Tamariskia district .
Vineta is a residential district of all ethnic groups. It is considered a middle to high income district. In addition to individual houses, there are also some apartment blocks as well as schools and leisure facilities.
Swakopmund waterfront
The construction of the Swakopmund Waterfront on an area of the Vineta district has been planned since 2002, but was not finally started until 2007 due to financial problems. In 2004 the waterfront was raised to the status of a separate district, before that it belonged to the Vineta district. The construction of a 16,000 m² area was finally approved, which the South African company Safari Developments will build on for 400 to 500 million Namibian dollars . Since 2017, a large shopping center with over 70 shops, penthouse and luxury apartments, exclusive restaurants, banks and over 700 parking spaces has been part of the new development on the Waterfront Platz am Meer .
