Świelino (German Schwellin ) is a village near Koszalin (Köslin) in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in northwestern Poland .

Geographical location

Świelino is located in Western Pomerania , about 16 kilometers west of the small town of Bobolice ( Bublitz ) and 24 kilometers southeast of the regional metropolis Koszalin. From Świelino there are train connections to Koszalin, Bobolice and Białogard.

history

Świelino, a church village , was originally an old fief of the von Kleist family . On October 2, 1612 the cartographer Eilhard Lubinus visited the landowner Reinhold von Kleist there. In September 1766 the manor was bought by the Prussian lieutenant general Friedrich Wilhelm Lölhöffel von Löwensprung . Around 1784, in addition to the farm, the district of Rosenberg , also known as Vorwerk Brille , the brickworks Kalkofen or Kalkberg , six farmers, a smithy, an inn, a preacher and a sexton belonged to Schwellin . There were a total of 23 fireplaces (households). Around 1867 there were 24 residential buildings and 30 farm buildings in Schwellin. Later the manor Wojenthin and the Wojenthiner Mühle , which had previously belonged to the Belgard district, were incorporated.

Towards the end of the Second World War , Schwellin was occupied by the Red Army in the spring of 1945 and then placed under Polish administration together with all of Western Pomerania. The village has now been renamed and given the Polish name Świelino . Afterwards, the native German population was expelled from their place by immigrant Poles due to the so-called Bierut decrees . Świelino is now part of Gmina Bobolice .
