Svyatlana Buraha

Swjatlana Buraha ( Belarusian Святлана Бурага , English transcription Svetlana Buraga ; born September 4, 1965 in Minsk ) is a former Belarusian athlete who was particularly successful in the heptathlon .

Starting for the Soviet Union , she finished fourteenth in the heptathlon at the World Athletics Championships in Rome in 1987 with 5982 points. In the same year she won the European Athletics Cup of all- around fighters in Arles with 6507 points . In 1988 she was tenth at the Olympic Games in Seoul with 6232 points.

She celebrated the greatest success of her career as a starter for Belarus at the 1993 World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart . With a personal best and a national record of 6635 points, she won the bronze medal behind Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Sabine Braun . In 1995 Buraha was fourth in the pentathlon at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Barcelona with 4466 points .

Swjatlana Buraha is 1.68 m tall and had a competition weight of 56 kg.
