Sy Gomberg
Sy Gomberg (born August 19, 1918 in New York City , New York , † February 11, 2001 in Brentwood , California ) was an American screenwriter and film producer , each time for the Oscar for the best original story and for the price the Writers Guild of America (WGA Award) was nominated.
Life
At the Academy Awards in 1951 , Gomberg was nominated for the Oscar for Best Original Story for his very first film presentation , namely for the comedy So ein Unluck ( When Willie Comes Marching Home , 1950) directed by John Ford , starring Dan Dailey , Corinne Calvet and Colleen Townsend .
At the same time he was nominated together with George Wells for the Writers Guild of America Award for the best musical for Summer Stock (1950) by Charles Walters with Judy Garland , Gene Kelly and Eddie Bracken .
Gomberg, who wrote the scripts and templates for twenty films and television series and produced six films and television series as a producer, was married to actress Maxine Cooper Gomberg from 1957 until his death and had three children with her.
