history

The castle and the village of Liebenek were laid out in the 14th century by the lords of Prasberg (also called von Presberg) on a high place above the Egertal. In the 15th century the owners of the place changed frequently. According to tradition, Liebenek was destroyed by Bohemian troops in 1462 during the Bavarian War and again in 1478. The castle went out and its walls were removed as building material. In 1507 the citizen of Cheb, Linhart Neksch, bought the estate and had a new fortress built in the village. After that, there were frequent changes of ownership again from the second half of the 16th century. In 1629, the fresh iron family from Eisenberg bought Liebenek, from 1688 the estate belonged to the Eger patrician family Juncker von Oberkunreuth . They sold the Liebenek and Oberkunreuth estates, the village of Diemreuth and a house in Eger around 1735 for 40,000 guilders to the city of Eger. The Liebenek Fortress was mentioned for the last time in 1757 and was completely abandoned in the second half of the 18th century. On the hill of the medieval castle, the city had farm buildings for its estate built. These burned down in 1845 and were then torn down. Until the middle of the 19th century, Liebenek remained in the possession of the city of Eger.

After the abolition of patrimonial Liebenek formed from 1850 a district of the community Mühlbach in the district and judicial district of Eger . The parish was Mühlbach. From 1880 the place was called "Liebeneck". In 1909 Georg Ott opened an inn. After the Munich Agreement , Liebeneck was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the district of Eger until 1945 . In 1943 Liebeneck consisted of 16 houses. After the end of World War II , Liebeneck returned to Czechoslovakia and the German-speaking population was expelled . In 1952 the place was renamed Tůně . Between 1962 and 1964 the Skalka dam was built in the Egertal. On April 1, 1976 Tůně was incorporated into Cheb together with Pomezí nad Ohří. In 1980 Tůně lost its status as a district of Cheb. Since November 24, 1990 Tůně has belonged to the municipality of Pomezí nad Ohří. Today a hotel and casino are operated in Tůně.
