The TSV Osterholz-Tenever Bremen (short OT Bremen ) is a sports club from the Bremen district Osterholz . The first soccer team played one year in the Oberliga Nord ( 1991/92 season ).

history

In 1900, 1719 residents lived in Osterholz. The place was partly incorporated into Bremen in 1921 and completely in 1945 and had around 10,000 inhabitants in 1950 (2018: around 38,000 and Tenever around 13,000).

The club was founded in 1909 as the Free Gymnastics Association Osterholz-Tenever and Georg Schumacher was founding chairman. At that time, gymnastics was performed in the hall of the pub by co-founder Fritz Bierstedt on Osterholzer Heerstrasse . From 1920 the lawn sport (hit ball) was played. In 1923 the marching band was founded, later shaped by Luer Kämena, in 1925 the handball department and in 1926 the football department. The Free Gymnastics Federation joined the club around 1926. The club was banned as a workers' sports club in 1933. As a successor the TSV Osterholz-Tenever was founded on June 14th, 1933 , which also the banned TV Frei-Heil Ellen joined. In 1937 the "barrack" was inaugurated. After the Second World War , SG Osterholz-Tenever was founded on November 4, 1945 , and took the name TSV Osterholz-Tenever again a year later . The club is called OT Bremen for short . The table tennis departments were founded (1950). Bounce ball (1956), judo (1965), volleyball (1972), swimming (1975), basketball (1984), taekwondo (1996), chess (2004), cheerleaders and football (2017).

The Osterholzer Strasse sports hall was built by 1952, the multi-purpose hall in Schevemoor with a restaurant in 1985 and the multi-generation hall in 2013.

Soccer

In 1926 a football department was established. In the 1950s and 1960s, the OT Bremen commuted between the Association League and the District League. Twice followed the direct relegation after the association league promotion, while two more times the relegation only took place in the second season. It was not until 1972, after two consecutive promotions, that the first jump into the Bremen House of Lords succeeded. Previously, OT prevailed 4: 3 in the decider against TSV Lesum . In the same year, the team reached the final of the Bremen Cup , which was lost, however, 1: 4 against the Hasteder TSV .

1975 OT was champion of the state league and missed as second in the promotion round to the Oberliga Nord behind SV Eintracht Nordhorn the promotion to the north German upper house. At the same time, the team qualified for the DFB Cup for the first time and lost 7-2 in the first round match at Mainz 05 . Until 1981, OT stayed in the upper house of Bremen and made a name for itself until its resurgence in 1985, primarily with its offspring. The club reached the finals of the German B-Juniors football championship three times . In 1981 the OT youngsters reached the quarter-finals and failed because of the eventual winner Borussia Mönchengladbach .

After the Bremen runner-up in 1988, the second Bremen championship succeeded two years later. In the promotion round, the Osterholzer finished last. In 1991 he was promoted to the Oberliga Nord. A successful first half of the season brought the team to ninth place. After manager Grollmann resigned after a dispute with coach Böhm, OT slipped further and further into the table cellar. At the end of the season, only three goals were missing against Altona 93 with the same points to keep the league. 1992, the team again qualified for the DFB Cup and lost in the first round the first FC Nürnberg with 1: 7th In 1994 the club refrained from participating in the Lower Saxony / Bremen Oberliga despite having had athletic qualifications .

Two relegations in a row brought the club in 1996 in the district league, before the team returned to the Bremen upper house in 1999 after two ascents in a row. Since relegation in 2010, OT's first team has played in the Bremen Landesliga . With Michael Böhnke , the club produced a Bundesliga player, the handball department with Natalie Hagel and Birte Tesch two national players .
