The Turnverein 1888 Büttelborn eV ( TV Büttelborn ) is a sports club founded in 1888 and re-founded in 1949. The association consists of nine departments. The seat of the association is in Büttelborn ( Hessen ).

history

The club was founded in 1888 as a "gymnastics and military club". In the year it was founded, the club consisted of 38 gymnasts, nine pupils and 24 inactive members. Today's club domicile, the gymnasium , was self-built in 1925. In the turmoil of the Second World War, club life came to a complete standstill. The club was re-founded in 1949 as "Turnverein 1888 eV Büttelborn". Since 2009 the club has been called "Turnverein 1888 Büttelborn eV"

The association has the departments and divisions Recreational Sports , Health Sport , Gymnastics , Handball , jazz dance , tennis , table tennis , trampolining and gymnastics .

There used to be badminton , fistball , athletics and karate in clubs. There was also an amateur drama group, a marching band and a penalty council on TV Büttelborn.

In 2003 a sports hall was built next to the gym, which gave the club a further boost. The association has almost 1,600 members.

Sporting successes / special features

The greatest sporting success was the title of the German handball champion of the female B-youth in 1980. The handball women of TV Büttelborn played for several years in the regional league , in the 1980s the second highest German division. In men's handball, TV Büttelborn advanced to the third round of the DHB Cup in 1993 , where it was defeated by the later DHB Cup and European Cup winner TSV Milbertshofen .

In tennis, the men of 40 played in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga at the beginning of the 21st century.

The trampoline gymnasts won two medals at the German Youth Championships in 2013. In 2016 Louis Behre became German youth champion on the double mini trampoline. The Sauerkraut Cup, a major nationwide competition for young talent, has existed since 2004.

In 2019, the trampoline gymnasts attracted attention when they competed with their Oberliga team with Olympic champion Fabian Hambüchen .

Personalities

  • Ernst Feick (* 1911 in Büttelborn; † 2007 in Gießen) was President of the German Handball Federation from 1955 to 1966 and played a major role in deepening international sports relationships. Born in Büttelborn in 1911, he began his handball career at TV Büttelborn before moving to SV Darmstadt 98 .

Culture

In addition to traditional events such as curb and carnival , the Turnverein Büttelborn also has its own comedy events such as Bock uff Hessisch and BBF (Büttelborner Brivat Fernsehen) .
