Lorenzo Stanziani has a detective agency in San Francisco . One day his former boss Goldsmith visits him. Stanziani used to work for the FBI , but was sentenced to prison for drug trafficking in the course of an investigation through no fault of her own. Goldsmith offers Stanziani rehabilitation: Stanziani is supposed to catch the boss of the drug trafficking Kandinsky in Genoa. Stanziani accepts the order. In Genoa he goes in search of Kandinsky. But not only Kandinsky has his eye on Stanziani, the men of the freight forwarder Papasian are also watching him. Stanziani starts an affair with the nightclub dancer Brenda. It turns out that Papasian and Kandinsky split up the drug trade in Genoa. But Stanziani also wants to expose the backers. Stanziani's son dies in a kidnapping by Brenda's men. After the murder of Kandinsky and Papasian by Brenda killers, Stanziani kills Brenda in revenge. Before she dies, Brenda confesses that she received the orders from Goldsmith. Goldsmith, as the FBI's chief investigator into drug offenses, was also head of a syndicate. The conviction of Stanziani had also prompted Goldsmith to camouflage his company. Stanziani drives to Goldsmith in San Francisco and kills him.
