Takanosu ( Japanese 鷹 巣 町 , - machi , literally: falcon nest ) was a town in Gun Kita-Akita in the Japanese prefecture of Akita . It lies between Ōdate in the east and Noshiro in the west to the north.

history

On March 22, 2003, the Machi Takanosu, Aikawa ( 合川 町 , -machi ), Moriyoshi ( 森吉 町 , -machi ) and Ani ( 阿仁 町 , -machi ) joined forces to form Shi Kita-Akita .

traffic

Takanosu is connected by national road 7 to Niigata or Aomori , the starting point of national road 105 to Yurihonjō or national road 285 to Akita or Kazuno .

Takanosu is connected to the rail network by the JR Ōu main line to Fukushima or Aomori and the Akita Nairiku line is connected to the Akita Nairiku Jūkan Tetsudō to Senboku .

Furthermore, Takdate-Noshiro Airport is located in Takanosu .

Culture

Takanosu is famous for its drums. The city is in the Guinness Book of Records with the world's largest drum. At major cultural street festivals, the huge drums on carts were pulled and beaten by tractors. For this reason, the city also had the drum as a landmark.

From time to time town festivals were celebrated on the streets, such as Bon Odori in late summer .

education

In Takanosu there were two high schools run by the prefecture: the Takanosu High School and the Takanosu Agricultural and Forestry High School. The latter school provides training with 3 possible specializations: agrochemistry, forest ecology and ecological engineering.
