Noshiro ( Japanese 能 代 市 , -shi ) is a city in Akita Prefecture on Honshū , the main island of Japan .
The city is known in Japan for the Noshiro Technical High School basketball team ( 能 代 工業 高校 Noshiro Kōgyō Kōkō ).

Noshiro is north of Akita and southwest of Aomori on the Sea of Japan .
history
On October 1, 1940, the city of Noshirominato merged with the villages of Shinonome ( 東 雲 村 , -mura ) and Sakaki ( 榊 村 , -mura ) to form the city of Noshiro. On 21 March 2006, Noshiro has with the community Futatsui ( 二ツ井町 , -machi together) from the district of Yamamoto to the new city Noshiro.
