Tallulah is an American film drama from the year 2016 . It was directed by Sian Heder , with Ellen Page , Allison Janney and Tammy Blanchard in the leading roles . The film had its world premiere on January 23, 2016 at the Sundance Film Festival and was released worldwide on Netflix on July 29, 2016 .

Tallulah drives around America in a van and makes his way through life stealing credit cards. In search of her boyfriend Nico, she travels to New York to see his mother Margo. There she is used as a babysitter by mistake in a hotel room by Carolyn, who is overwhelmed with her baby Madison. After she returns from a drunk date, Tallulah takes the baby with her in a short-circuit reaction. She rings Margo's doorbell again and lets her believe that the baby is her grandson.

Sian Heder, who directed the film, also wrote the script. It is an offshoot of her own short film Mother . The story was inspired by Heder's own experiences as a babysitter. In May 2015, it was announced that Ellen Page and Allison Janney , who had previously worked together on Juno and Touchy Feely , would play the leading lead roles. Filming began in June 2015. Most of it took place in the New York borough of Manhattan .
