The zygomorphic ray-florets are white and linear-elongated in shape. The radially symmetrical tubular flowers are yellow. The flowering period extends mainly from June to August. The achenes are pentagonal and have a crown-like pappus .

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18 or 36.

Location and distribution

The bouquet-blooming exuberant flower grows in dry forests, in dry bushes, on slopes, in clearings and on rocky slopes. It prefers more or less dry, warm, calcareous, mostly loose stone weathered and loess soils. In Central Europe it is a character species of the order Quercetalia pubescentis, but also occurs in societies of the Geranion sanguinei or the order Fagetalia.

The bouquet bloomed exuberant flower occurs in Europe from Belgium, France to Eastern Europe. They are also found in North Africa, West Asia and the Caucasus.

In Germany it is quite common in the central and southern limestone areas. To the north it penetrates mainly in the area of the large rivers Elbe and Oder. It is mostly absent in the higher mountain regions. In Switzerland, it is particularly widespread in western and southern Switzerland . In Austria the kind is moderately frequent and comes in two subspecies: First, the ordinary Straußmargerite ( Tanacetum corymbosum subsp. Corymbosum and the mountain Straußmargerite) ( Tanacetum corymbosum subsp. Subcorymbosum that differs among other things by black-brown bracts of the type).
