Miriam is a television film from the television crime series Tatort on ARD and ORF . The film was produced by WDR and first broadcast on April 4, 1983. It is the 146th episode in the crime scene series and the sixth episode with the investigative team Horst Schimanski ( Götz George ) and Christian Thanner ( Eberhard Feik ).

action

Detective Chief Inspector Thanner moved in with his colleague Schimanski after he was thrown out of the door by his girlfriend Sylvia because of his jealousy , and is bringing his apartment up to scratch. While Thanner tries to win his girlfriend back, Daddel Virks, the partner of private detective Heinz Scholl, is found murdered in his ransacked office. Miriam Schultheiß, who suddenly appears at the scene of the crime, brings a new aspect to this case.

Schimanski and Thanner inquire at the insurance company about two thefts Scholl and Virks were involved in, one of which was committed by Miriam's father. The two detectives seem to have encountered something explosive. While Schimanski tries in vain with colleagues from other departments to find Scholl who has gone into hiding, Thanner sinks into his heartache and throws himself into housework.

At a truck pusher - raid can Scholl, who also has the role of mediator here escape. The truck drivers only confirm the rumors that Scholl allegedly opened a gold vein. Schimanski seeks out Miriam and her father and learns about the fatal traffic accident of his mother 20 years ago, who is said to have stabbed a player before she died. This event seems to divide the two deeply, as mayor then made his lover his new wife. Miriam wanted to find out more about it with the help of Scholl and collect information about Virks for a fee.

A telephone call lures Miriam from her apartment to a meeting point, where Schimanski is following her. A suspicious Mercedes is observed by Schimanski and identified as a Schröder KG vehicle . The meeting was a ruse to search Miriam's apartment. The next day Miriam withdraws a large sum from her bank in order to be able to pay Scholl for the information she hopes to get. She meets the detective at the train station . Schimanski, Thanner and their colleague Hansen manage to overwhelm Scholl, and it turns out that Scholl only wanted to deceive Miriam with old newspapers.

However, they release Scholl to use him as a decoy, and he is promptly fetched from a hotel by Schröder, who is a good friend of Schultheiss. When Scholl is beaten up in a deserted place, Thanner and Hansen intervene, leading to an exchange of fire in which Scholl is injured.

Before Scholl is admitted to the hospital, he gives them an address in Cologne where one of Schultheiss's housemaids is to live. The woman claims to have been dismissed by the industrialist because of his new wife after the incident 20 years ago and given a private pension. In the hospital, Scholl reveals to Schimanski that the housekeeper is actually Miriam's mother, who was believed to be dead, and that Schröder's maid was instead murdered to prevent a scandal. A comparison of Miriam and the woman confirms Scholl's statement. Miriam is visibly shaken. Schröder, who is wanted , wants to escape by plane, but is arrested at the airport. Miriam, accompanied by Schimanski and Thanner, visits her father, who has already been expecting her and lets himself be arrested without resistance.

background

  • The mayor actor Paul Albert Krumm played in the first crime scene: Taxi to Leipzig, the first main suspect of the television series.
  • It was in this crime scene that the then new Ford Sierra was advertised suggestively: it appears on an advertising poster, and in later scenes Schimanski drives it himself to shadow Miriam. Another element is advertising of the König Pilsener beer brand , which can often be seen in its predecessors.
  • After the success of White Eagle for Tatort The Girl on the Stairs , Tangerine Dream delivered the instrumental song Daydream for this Tatort episode.
