1000 Tode is a television film from the crime series Tatort . The film with Eva Mattes as chief detective Klara Blum was produced by SWR and broadcast in Germany on November 3, 2002 for the first time. In this 513rd episode in the crime scene series, Klara Blum has to solve her second case, which involves the disappearance of a young girl who has obviously fallen for an internet fraudster who wants to film her suicide on camera.
action
Seventeen-year-old Manu reveals to her friend Nicole in a video message that she “did it - together with Leander” and now she has disappeared without a trace. She also left her parents with a suicide note announcing that she wanted to change the world. Her father says she has changed a lot in the last year and has chatted a lot on the internet.
Manu's bicycle is found on Lake Constance and Blum discovers her friend Nicole, who sits mournfully on the shore and looks out over the lake. Since Blum only recently lost her husband, she can empathize with Nicole.
When Blum asks Manu's friends who she might have met on the Internet recently, she comes across a suicide site. It is strange, however, that Manu bought a waterproof headlamp to go into the water. So it can be assumed that she wanted to meet someone in the middle of the lake. Although Manu has deleted all of her computer data, Blum finds out that she has chatted with a Leander very often. However, he has covered his Internet tracks and the police can not determine his identity. Blum suspects that Leander is not a suicide candidate, but a potential murderer who lured his victim to him in this way. Blum looks for the provider of the death forum and meets a cynical man who has not saved any data of his forum users. Manu's friend Nicole is of no help either. However, she is now looking for Leander online and getting in touch with him. This actually intercepted Manuela in the lake and locked her in a dungeon. He can only be heard through a sound system and drives Manu's desperation further. His goal is to post their suicide live in front of the camera. He announced this to his followers and they are already waiting impatiently. With psychological terror he wants to drive her to hang herself, but she refuses.
Blum and her colleague Îsi look for traces on the shores of Lake Constance and find what they are looking for. So Blum is sure that Manu is still alive. She started a survey of residents and had suicides researched in which no corpse was found. She comes across Sabrina Kasa. The result of the questioning of Sabrina's mother leads to the Internet. Îsi researched the net and found an internet platform where violent videos were exchanged. There the investigators discover, among other things, a death video by Sabrina Kasa, which again points to Leander. So Blum wants to lay out a bait in the hope that the Leander he is looking for will bite. In doing so, she gets on the trail of Nicole, who, like Manu, announced her suicide on the Internet. Blum speaks to her conscience and can convince her that she will continue to play the "death game" in her place. Blum makes an appointment with Leander and, equipped with a headlamp and tracking device, goes to the spot in Lake Constance at midnight from which Manu also started. Your colleagues follow the action in order to intervene on your signal. When Blum is at the end of her strength, Leander pulls her into a boat and takes her ashore. But when he discovers the wetsuit his potential victim is wearing under his clothes, he knows that a trap has been set for him and is fleeing. Blum cannot follow him in the dark, but suspects Manu is hiding in an old mine tunnel nearby and actually finds it. But when she tries to free Manu, Leander appears and threatens Blum with a knife. In the meantime the SEK arrives , which has followed the tracking device and can free both Manuela and Blum.

Reviews
Lars-Christian Daniels writes for the website: How was the crime scene? He judges that the screenwriter Dorothee Schön understood well, "skillfully introducing the less web-savvy Sunday evening viewer to the technical pitfalls and dangers of such communities, [but] unfortunately she neglects the victims' characters when searching for Manuela's kidnapper [...]: Neither with regard to Manuela [...] nor with regard to her no less suicidal friend Nicole [...] does the motivation for the suicide plans become clear. ”But the critic also says that the“ chic lake panoramas, [the] sensitive [ n] Conversations among women and a melancholy mood that only has to give way to feverish tension at the showdown [...] Constance will also dominate in the next few years.
Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv found: “The film by this year's Grimme Prize winner Jobst Oetzmann is a balancing act between depicting violence and moral responsibility, between realism and tension. [...] There are glimpses of a suicide online, but cinematically the voyeurism inherent in the medium does not exceed the limit of good taste. "
Kino.de criticizes, however, that “Schön and Oetzmann (not) succeed in [...] finding an appropriate visual implementation for Internet chat: It just seems implausible and fake when people say what they are saying out loud into your computer. And this time Eva Mattes, as Klara Blum, has to ooze with understanding. This may be justified, after all, her husband recently died, but in the long run the good soul can get on your nerves a bit, especially since her well-intentioned advice too often remains at the level of calendar wisdom ('Pain can also make you strong '). On the other hand, the November pictures of Lake Constance are impressive. The landscape shots by cameraman Jürgen Carle perfectly capture the autumn melancholy that is so typical for the region at this time of year and which can indeed lead to a certain amount of fatigue. "
The critics of the television magazine TV-Spielfilm come to the conclusion that the episode is “staged with a lot of emotion and tension”.
