occupation

In the Net of Lies is a television film from the crime series Tatort with Eva Mattes as Konstanz chief detective Klara Blum . The film produced by SWR was first broadcast on March 27, 2011 on Das Erste .

Blum and Perlmann investigate a case of self-defense in which it turns out in the end that the actual perpetrator had arranged the fateful rendezvous between the rapist and the victim.

action

While jogging on Lake Constance , the Konstanz judge Heike Göttler, known for her relentless approach to sex offenders , is herself the victim of sexual assault. In self-defense, she kills the attacker. During the investigation, she tells Blum and Perlmann that she does not know the man and that she only became a victim by chance. However, circumstantial evidence feeds doubts about her statement. With the help of a psychological expert, it can be determined that Göttler was obviously not afraid of the perpetrator, but rather that her facial expressions show contempt. The fact that she had struck several times testifies to further enormous hatred. At the same time, the forensic scientist finds out that the perpetrator was invited to a sadomasochistic role-play via the Internet and specifically came to the lake for it. Goettler is suspected of having arranged this meeting to teach violent men a lesson. In her resistance, she then, in good physical shape as she is, probably struck too hard and too often, which caused her victim to die.

Göttler accuses Blum that, due to the indiscreet investigation, her identity became known to the press and that she now has professional problems. She suspects that the attack on her could have been an act of revenge by one of the violent offenders she had convicted. Ernst Heck then comes into focus, who had been convicted of rape in marriage by Göttler and who subsequently not only got divorced, but also lost contact with his daughter and his job as a teacher. Göttler cannot rule out that she made a wrong judgment in this case, which would explain this sophisticated campaign of revenge.

In order to find out with whom the victim met on the Internet, an IP address is determined via the chat provider . This clearly leads to Heike Göttler, who continues to claim that someone wants to attach this to her. However, checking the Internet access also reveals the possibility that someone has tapped into the insecure W-LAN connection. Surprisingly, a man makes a statement to Blum that he wants to be treated anonymously, since he is a member of the district council and does not want to endanger this career. He claims to have also received an invitation to a fake rape via the chat portal. Someone would have called him to the Volkmann law firm, but when he appeared there, the proprietor knew nothing of such an appointment. For Blum, a certain logic appears in this, because Heck's wife had left him for her relationship with the lawyer Gabriela Volkmann. Furthermore, a man with sadistic tendencies is appointed to Ernst Heck's ex-wife via a manipulated entry in the chat. The viewer can see that Ernst Heck, as the caretaker at the university, returns laptops that have been left lying around to the owner with a delay of a few days, and thus could use them for manipulated chat entries. He is very relaxed about the seizure of his own PC by the police. Heck's self-confident demeanor makes Blum become skeptical. While he is under interrogation, he looks at his watch suspiciously often. She suspects that an ally of Heck is supposed to take revenge on his ex-wife. She is the only one who has not yet been included in the presumed revenge campaign. Blum leads him to believe that there is a risk that it is not his wife but his daughter who could fall into the trap of the staged sex game. In fact, Heck breaks in and explains that someone is on his way to see his wife who thinks he has been invited to a sex game. The police appear on the shores of Lake Constance in good time and can clear up the situation.

When Klara Blum wants to bring the good news to Heike Göttler that she has now been rehabilitated, she is in the process of attempting suicide. Blum was able to prevent that, but he also got the confession from Göttler that she had struck far more often than it would have been necessary.

Reviews

Christian Buß calls the film on Spiegel Online the “best crime scene in Constance for years”. He praises the screenwriter Dorothee Schön for the "real depth psychological penetration of her female main character" and particularly emphasizes the play of the main actress Karin Giegerich.

“A woman is attacked while jogging. She kills the perpetrator. Was it really self-defense? But why did she strike five times? Judge versus commissioner - a duel is on the horizon. Or does a third person want to take revenge? The Bodensee "crime scene" with a good script and "Flemming" touch: the suspects' facial expressions are read constantly. Still images on monitors, cold interrogation rooms, glass fronts, glances into unprotected faces - this creates a harmonious basic pitch. Side effect: as a viewer you also take a closer look. "

Beate Strobel at Focus online finds: “In a film that makes facial expressions the topic, the actors have a particularly difficult time. Close-up faces draw the viewer's attention to the corners of the mouth and the muscles around the eyes, flared nostrils and forehead wrinkles. The real emotions behind the simulated ones have to be presented, a double game. "

The critics of the television magazine TV-Spielfilm are quite appreciative: “ An old-school detective game emerged from the imaginative script by Grimme Prize winner Dorothee Schön (' Frau Böhm says no '). [Conclusion:] Insane case, cleverly constructed. "
