A murder leads the investigators into the world of the wicked and rich idlers, in which a police officer is also suspected.

action

Benjamin Wolters, a 32-year-old millionaire known as “The Last Playboy in Constance”, has fun with his friends in his villa. He wanted to play Russian roulette with them , but none of his guests liked it. The next day he was found shot dead by his cleaning lady in his villa.

Blum appears at the crime scene and first asks the cleaning lady, who is just about to drink up the leftover champagne from the party. The inspector learns from her who was one of Wolters' closest friends and who may have spent the last evening with him. First they called Daniel Gabler, a small music star, who is still the glory of his second place in a talent show indulges. Blum invites him to the station and he confirms his presence at the party. From him she not only learns the names of the other guests: Marcus Pracht, Nadine Weiss, Alisa Adam, but also that Wolters had as many enemies as there are names in the phone book.

Next, Blum seeks out Alisa Adam. She claims that she met Wolters at a party and that they might have become a couple. At the time of the crime she was in the theater, which the cloakroom lady could confirm there. Marcus Pracht is summoned to the Presidium, and before Blum can ask him anything, he explains that a lawyer will answer all of his questions for him because he works for a London hedge fund and is not allowed to give the police any information due to a confidentiality clause. Nadine Weiss has the information that she owns a boutique and her husband runs a beauty clinic in Switzerland. Pracht and Weiss say they spent the last evening together. Blum believes that the solution to the case will be found with these four people. Since Perlmann only recently returned from his skiing holiday, the suspects do not yet know him and he goes “undercover” into their circles.

One of Wolters' sizeable number of ex-girlfriends is Julia Nobbe, who has been in a clinic for some time and suffers from a post-traumatic stress disorder, which was probably caused by shock. According to the doctor, her identity and the perception of the environment is interrupted, but she also has clear days. Her father comes to visit her every day. When Blum visits him, she finds out that he is a police officer. He states that he had himself transferred to Konstanz two months ago so that he can be closer to his daughter. Klaus Nobbe describes Wolters as an arrogant playboy who throws away his toys when he's bored. The fact that Wolters is very likely to be to blame for his daughter's illness and that Nobbe has also been shown to have seriously threatened him makes him suspicious, especially since he was the first to be at the scene. At the time of the crime he was on duty and was out with his colleague. However, she has to admit that he was on duty for two hours without her.

Perlmann asks his new clique and finds out that actually each of the four had a motive to kill Wolters. Daniel Gabler was repeatedly humiliated by him, but also financially supported. Marcus Pracht had massive money problems and Wolters had threatened to break his latest deal and he also has a key to Wolters' villa. Nadine Weiss was jealous because he had just exchanged her for a new friend. Alisa Adam may have been raped. Her alibi is not watertight, as she could have got out of the theater unnoticed.

After Blum summoned Marcus Pracht again and she promised him on the head that he had a serious motive, he was found shot on the shores of Lake Constance the next day. Apparently he shot himself, but he had no way of knowing that his last transaction actually failed. Also, he didn't use the same gun that Wolters was shot with. Blum is surprised to find Klaus Nobbe at the crime scene again.

Forensic doctor Kurt Wehmut informs Blum about a similar case in Switzerland. A few months ago a young man also killed himself there with a drum revolver. Blum finds out that the victim, Boris Koenig, was Alisa Adam's brother and that Julia Nobbe had seen everything. From her she learns that Alisa Adam was with her recently and that her memory has been back ever since.

Alisa Adam blames everyone for the death of her brother who watched while Boris put his life on the line. So she lures Nadine Weiss to her after Daniel has also come into her power. He manages to briefly switch on his cell phone so that the police can find him. Alisa drives both of them to the shores of Lake Constance and forces them at gunpoint to play Russian roulette, just like her brother had to do. She claims to have shot Wolters in self-defense because he did not want to obey the rules of the game and aimed at her. Marcus was just unlucky, like her brother.

Blum and Perlmann are already looking for Alisa Adam. In their apartment there is only Daniel's hat on the table and so they try to reach Daniel. They manage to locate his cell phone and arrive in time and prevent the game of death . However, Alisa takes control of the revolver and shoots herself.

Reviews

Volker Bergmeister from tittelbach.tv comes to the conclusion that this crime scene sequence is an "unspectacular, but exciting and entertaining crime thriller", in which the tone is right, the dialogues are right and "the quintet of decadents [...] well drawn and also played" be. “Another thriller without tricks. But if the story works and the characters are right, it's nice to look at again. ”He continues:“ The accomplished author Leo P. Ard alias Jürgen Pomorin has written a classic Whodunit thriller, director Jürgen Bretzinger has it straightforward and right excitingly staged. This murder hunt offers no film art, but the craftsmanship is passable. "

At Suedkurier.de , Thomas Domjahn rated the episode as “solid. Overall, the Tatort Todesspiel convinces with suspense, social criticism and an interesting case. But the Lake Constance crime scene cannot keep up with the most recent spectacular cases from Cologne or Frankfurt. "

Anita M. Schneider from n-tv.de judges negatively about the latest crime scene from Lake Constance. She writes: “A lot of potential to finally tackle the crime scene in a more extreme, contemporary and, above all, different way, is simply being given away.” She also finds the role of Commissioner Klara Blum boring. In her opinion, “there is a lack of sharpness and sharpness in the voice. A woman with no rough edges, a nice, unfortunately very boring, calm haven. The suspects keep dancing on her nose, leaving the room, ending conversations. It is known that she is actually leading the investigation into this murder case, but it is not lived. Where is the clever detective that we as viewers want to see and admire? The Commissioner, who suspects the right lead, asks suspiciously, sees things that we do not see. It does not exist! ”There is similar criticism for Perlmann, since he“ unfortunately has not the slightest authority either. On the contrary, he doesn't just look like Blum's clumsy little son. ”There is only one thing“ you have to give Perlmann credit for [sic]: He looks authentic in his role and delivers a good acting performance. Unfortunately he is one of the few in this 'deadly boring game' ”.

Lars-Christian Daniels from Filmstarts.de awards 1.5 out of 5 possible stars and comes to the result: “Tragedy instead of“ death game ”- the first Lake Constance“ crime scene ”of 2014 continues the latest negative trend in crime novels from Constance and offers Even die-hard fans of Blum and Perlmann hardly have any reasons to switch on. "

The critics of the television magazine TV-Spielfilm think: "Story and staff have potential, but could have used more drive."

"Frosty, decadent, but a little lame."
