Buntes Wasser is a television film from the crime series Tatort by ARD and ORF . The film was produced by the SFB and first broadcast on October 13, 1996. It is the third case of the investigator duo Roiter and Zorowski and the 344th crime scene episode. Roiter and Zorowski have to clear up the murder of a former NVA officer, a toxic waste scandal and other murders.

action

The Ahlert family finds Simone Ahlert's father Heinz Thoben strangled in the garden of his house. There are no valuables missing, and the dead man obviously had no enemies. The dead man was once a lieutenant colonel in the NVA . Roiter and Zorowski are looking for Olaf Ahlert, who is a very wealthy real estate agent , in his villa in Wannsee when he is meeting business partners with whom he is negotiating a property purchase in Africa. Ahlert tells the officials that he is separating from his wife and going to Africa on business , his villa is for sale. Roiter and Zorowski meet the ex-police officer and private detective Konrad Holz in Thoben's garden, who is doing vandalism there. This shows Roiter why he had investigated the dead by bringing him to the young Peter. The boy is seriously ill with cancer from environmental toxins , Peter's brother Paul was also ill and as a result had died a week earlier from a harmless brawl with his peers. The two boys became ill after playing for a summer on the outskirts of Berlin in an area that was contaminated with toxic residues from the NVA. The boys had bathed in a lake with "colored water". Holz explains to Roiter that Thoben was responsible for the contamination.

Zorowski researched from Holz's documents, which he had given his former colleagues, that the area in which the boys played and bathed was a restricted military area during the GDR era , where, in addition to residues from the NVA, toxic waste from West Berlin was also used for foreign exchange collapsed through the intermediary of the Stasi . Thoben has collected at least 650,000 DM for this . Roiter and Zorowski decide to investigate the matter further, as this is also where they suspect the key to the murder. Roiter meets with Holz, he says he could have got the dead person to testify, but Sylvia Ziller, the mother of the two boys, withdrew the lawsuit after she had received money from the people behind the deal. Holz had found out that Thoben had previously sexually abused his daughter Simone, with this knowledge he wanted to put him under pressure. In the restaurant where the two meet, the men are overheard by a stranger. The next morning, wood lies dead in his study, he was strangled with the same string as Thoben, a rag of leather is found at the scene of the crime. Roiter and Zorowski visit the Ahlert couple, Ahlert pretends not to have known Holz. When asked by Roiter, he admits that his wife was sexually abused by her father. Simone's best friend had told her husband Niemann, who was an old comrade of Ahlert. He did not know anything about his father-in-law's toxic waste deals.

Ahlert contacts Torsten Lemke, the man from the pub who had observed Roiter and Holz. He tells Ahlert that he had to kill Holz because he recognized him in the bar. Ahlert instructs his former subordinate Lemke, who lives on the former military training area, to distract the police if they should come there, he would have to buy another day. Shortly afterwards Roiter and Zorowski actually appear there and discover toxic waste, but Lemke surprises the two and threatens them with a weapon, then Lemke escapes them. Zorowski can find out that Ahlert was a security officer at the military training area and must have known about the toxic waste trade. Roiter visits Niemann, but he died shortly before on the construction site where he was working under unexplained circumstances. Ahlert looks for Lemke and instructs him to go into hiding and also criticizes him for using the same rope in both murders. Lemke is supposed to travel to Abu Dhabi with Ahlert's passport.

The scrap of leather from Holz's study may have come from a motorcycle combination, from which Roiter concludes that the man who threatened him and Zorowski while wearing a motorcycle combination was also Holz's murderer. Meanwhile, Ahlert installs an explosive charge in the depot of the former military training area in order to let Lemke die with his papers before he settles down. Meanwhile, Ziller tells Roiter and Zorowski that Ahlert was the man who gave her the money. The officers drive to Ahlert's villa and meet Simone there, who tells the officers that Lemke is her father and her husband's henchman. Lemke is killed in the explosion, as planned by Ahlert, just before Roiter and Zorowski can visit him. Although Roiter's colleagues find Ahlert's papers at Lemke, Roiter quickly realizes that the dead Lemke and Ahlert are fleeting. Roiter issues the search for Olaf Ahlert and drives with Zorowski to Tegel Airport . Roiter and Zorowski arrested Ahlert there, but Simone Ahlert suddenly appeared and shot her husband.
