You alone is a television film from the crime series Tatort , first broadcast on May 24, 2020. The contribution produced by Südwestrundfunk is the 1133th Tatort episode and is about the hunt for a suspected serial killer. The Stuttgart investigator duo Lannert and Bootz is investigating its 25th case.

action

The journalist Elisabeth Vogel is shot from a distance of 200 meters in front of her house. The murder had been announced in advance as number 1 in a letter to the police. The alleged perpetrator reports as a blackmailer, demands three million euros, which he does not collect despite meticulously organized handover. Instead, he announces a second murder and accompanies it with rituals similar to the first: a similar letter of announcement, the request to the police to place a newspaper advertisement and the numbering of the cartridge. This time the student Kostas Bernhard is shot while jogging in the Stuttgart vineyards.

After some time, the commissioners Lannert and Bootz see through the false leads of an allegedly insane blackmailer shooting at people at random and determine what the victims have in common. They had withdrawn money three years earlier in a bank branch and ignored a man lying on the ground who had suffered a heart attack and died, which could have been prevented with conscientious assistance. Since there was a beer bottle next to the man, they had mistaken him for a drunken bum .

The perpetrator Tamara Stuber is his lover at the time, who also kills a third person: She shoots a mother who has been warned by the police in front of her little daughter and the police and only barely escapes Inspector Lannert. In the case of the fourth person present at the ATM at the time, a tobacco dealer, she shied away from the murder on her first attempt because she personally knows the man who is still suffering greatly from his “serious mistake” at the ATM. Stuber embarks on the prepared escape. The police staged the alleged suicide and a funeral of the tobacco dealer, who was actually seriously traumatized and at risk of suicide, to which the widow of the deceased of the heart attack should lure them with a message in an online condolence book . The widow then instigates her to shoot the tobacco dealer, who in reality now lives under police protection. When Stuber breaks into his apartment with her gun, the police are waiting there and arrest them.

reception

Reviews

The film was well received by a number of critics. For example, the NZZ author praised the thriller as exciting and "narrated without frills, without detours or unnecessary digressions focused [...] on the murderous game between shooter and police." The "taciturn to wordless passages" are the strongest. In some dialogues, however, the script could have “relied more on the viewer's ability to understand.” Der Spiegel rated the film with nine out of ten possible points, while author Christian Buß rated it as “effective and elegant” as well as “cleverly” built. The director found a “strong rhythm for this difficult two-part story” from “Sniper-Thriller” and a second level with “sketchy love scenes”. The film service awarded four out of five possible stars and praised: “An imaginative and intricately written, hauntingly played and exciting crime thriller, which saves moral clarity and is all the more convincing in this ambivalence. The fine details of the staging fit together with remarkable precision. "

Audience ratings
