Tattoos & Tequila -

Tattoos & Tequila is the third studio album by the US singer Vince Neil .

background

After leaving Mötley Crüe in 1992, Vince Neil had released two albums: Exposed , released in 1993 , which received mostly positive reviews and reached number 13 on the Billboard 200 , and in 1995 the industrial and hip-hop-oriented Carved in Stone , which had a lasting negative impact on the singer's solo career, so that he returned to Mötley Crüe in 1997.

In 2010 Neil, this time still a member of Mötley Crüe, went back to the studio to record a new solo album. Tattoos & Tequila almost exclusively contains cover versions, among others by Elton John ( Bitch Is Back ), the Scorpions ( Another Piece of Meat ), Cheap Trick ( He's a Whore ) or Aerosmith ( Nobody's Fault ), as well as a previously unreleased piece by Mötley Crüe: Another Bad Day that was left over from the sessions for the album New Tattoo (2000). Only Tattoos And Tequila is a Neil original.

Neil's band consisted of bassist Dana Strum, guitarist Jeff Blando (both from the band Slaughter ), and drummer Zoltan Chaney. Marti Frederiksen and Jack Blades also worked as musicians and producers on the album. Blades had worked as a songwriter on Neil's first solo album, Frederiksen on Carved in Stone .

Tattoos & Tequila
  US 57 07/10/2010 (1 week)

Tattoos & Tequila rose to number 57 on the Billboard 200 a week after its release in the US on June 30, 2010, and in the first week the album also reached the following positions in other US charts: number 14 on the rock charts, number 6 on the hard rock Charts and number 7 in the independent charts.

Jenny Rönnebeck stated in her review for Rock Hard that, contrary to her expectations , Tattoos & Tequila had become a “cover album with two new songs” . The album can be described as successful "with its varied and interesting selection of songs." Rönnebeck found new titles such as "the sentimental 'Another Bad Day' penned by Nikki Sixx" and the title track, the "pure rock'n" Rolling fun conveys, “ most interesting. That is "anyway the only goal of Vince Neil" , who "makes all the pieces his own and spreads a relaxed, light summer party feeling".
