Taxi is the third studio album by the German singer and songwriter Bosse .

Emergence

Since Bosse was terminated by his label EMI due to the low success of the two previous albums Kamikazeherz and Guten Morgen Spinner , he produced his third album Taxi on his own. He was supported by producer Jochen Naaf . The two recorded the album in Naaf's living room. The album was released with around € 10,000 and support from Scoop Music . It rose to number 96 on the charts (with around 890 copies sold). In the distribution of the album they were supported by the label Rough Trade Distribution . The company Zebralution (Kurt Thielen) also released the album on iTunes. Based on the music video for 3 million on YouTube, interest in the record increased, so that another 5,000 copies had to be pressed.

Bosse himself said about the album:

"On my debut" Kamikazeherz "there were still an infinite number of paths, on" Guten Morgen, Spinner "there were maybe two more and now, now I have arrived."

- bosses

The album is characterized by the use of acoustic guitars in the intro of many songs and classical piano tones. Violas and violins are sometimes used. On the album there is also a song Simplifying with Sebastian Madsen. Bosse was on tour with Madsen as support in the run-up to the album release .

Title, cover

The title is Taxi , as the album is often about moments that end or that once were. The taxi symbolizes something that moves you or brings you to a new place.

On the cover you can see Bosse in a black jacket on a street. In the background are two abandoned prefabricated buildings with partially broken windows. At the top right, BOSSE can be read underlined in black, and below in small taxi. A seagull flies above the lettering.

Outcouplings

The videos for the first three songs 3 Million , Liebe ist Leise and Sommer Lang were shot for free by Bosses sandpit friend Christopher Häring.

3 million

The first single was released in January 2009 , 3 million . The song could not place in the German single charts, but was played a lot on the radio. The single also includes the songs Resume and How we have to live , which were previously released on the EP Kurzstrecken . The cover shows a multitude of seagulls looking to the right, with only one looking the other way. 3 million is an homage to Berlin. The song describes the feelings of a big city melancholic looking for his own counterpart. In the video to 3 million is Laura Tonke to see the colorful with a bunch of balloons runs through Berlin.

Love is quiet

Love is quiet was released in April 2009. The single also contains the song Penny . The video for love is quiet represents the filmed history of the first single 3 million . The actress is again Laura Tonke. She receives the bundle of balloons from an elephant in a ballerina costume.

Summer long

Sommer Lang was released as the third single in August 2009. Bosse is supported by the Frida Gold singer Alina Süggeler . The associated video was shot on the Elbe beach. A barbecue evening among friends is shown. Ua are Sasha and the former MTV presenter Markus Schultze to see.

dance with Me

Tanz mit mir was not released as a single, but a video was made for the song and released in October 2009. The idea for the video came from Kim Frank , who also directed. The video shows a middle-aged man who is sitting in his living room armchair and actually wants to watch TV in peace. But bosses and various dancing people (cheerleaders, clowns, a flamenco dancer, a robot dancer) dance and sing on his television. Finally, the man follows the request to “dance with me” and moves along enthusiastically.

criticism

"In the" Taxi ", the Hamburg songwriter takes this credo to heart. He took a long break, worked intensively on his pieces, played unplugged gigs and found his way to himself in reduction. The massive rock boards of the two predecessors only sound cautious here, instead acoustic guitars, piano and strings dominate. This gesture of authenticity is based entirely on melancholy colleagues like Kettcar and PeterLicht. He shapes the work and each of the twelve titles. [...] So the taxi is definitely going in the right direction. If the opportunity arises, please get on. "

- Laut.de criticism from Tobias Litterst

“One thing is certain: Bosse has turned on his texts, has arrived where you would never have expected him after“ Guten Morgen Spinner ”. And the songs also go on, sound nice and good, get stuck. That one could list various other German-speaking artists who somehow managed to do it better is an open question. Bosse is lagging behind, but in a very pleasant way. "

- Christian Preusser

"" Taxi "is almost a concept album about love that catapults us straight onto the dance floor of the Indi discos and this is what makes it so incredibly wonderful."

- row-people.de

“Taxi” is about love, friendship and feelings. “Girls music” could be said lightly; partly true. Because it is not a work formed by testosterone that only makes sense and fun at 2 per mille. No! Intelligent lyrics on an album for the often cited lonely island. "
