Wartesaal is the fourth studio album by the German singer and songwriter Bosse .
Emergence
Axel Bosse wrote a large part of the songs for the waiting room in a 1970s caravan on the Elbe beach. The recordings took place in the Topspin hangar in Cologne. Like its predecessor Taxi, the album was produced by Jochen Naaf . In contrast, the titles Nach Haus and Next Summer were partly recorded by Sebastian Blaschke in Gotteswegstudio A in Cologne.
Title, cover, booklet
“The waiting room is about this room, in which two people sit who just can't seem to reach for their happiness. Because they may be too confused, or too distracted, or already used to waiting. In the end they might make it. "
The album was named after the song Waiting Room, because it "is musically in the middle of the album, with every instrument [e], and [...] the chorus [lyrically] gets to the point." The album is about getting happy and being happy.
The cover shows Bosses upper body in a black training jacket against a cloudy sky (Photo: Patrick Wamsganz). The rest of the cover is in a strong red. BOSSE is written in large letters above the photo and the album title in black letters below it. The inside of the booklet is white with black lettering. A small symbol that reflects the title is inserted above each title, including the lyrics.

Outcouplings
The videos for the three songs Weit Weg , Wartesaal and Metropole were shot within a week in Tokyo, Mount Fuji and Shibuya. Directed by Christopher Häring and Katja Malinowski .
Far away
Far Away was the first song from the album released on February 11, 2011. The song was able to place itself at number 53 in the German single charts. The single contains a single and acoustic version as well as the Koletzki remix. Far away describes a moment in which one disappears mentally or physically, i. H. simply fades out everything around you.
Waiting room
Waiting room was released on May 27, 2011 as the second song from the album of the same name. In addition to a radio version and the album version of Waiting Room, the single also contains the acoustic versions of Next Summer and Die Regie . The video for the waiting room is also available from iTunes .
“The title song 'Waiting Room', for example, paints the picture of two people sitting in a bar just a few meters away from each other, day in and day out, but still failing to take their luck into their own hands and approach each other. "That was such a song, it was written after ten minutes and finished" "
Frankfurt / Oder
Frankfurt / Oder was already released on Bosses previous album Guten Morgen Spinner (2006). It was supposed to be released as a single at the time, but Bosses label EMI was bought up and work on the single was stopped. It is a love song that describes how everything is not right on the outside, but you are still happy because you have a certain other person with you. For Bosse, Frankfurt / Oder is the symbol of loneliness.
On waiting room it was re-released in a remix by Moritz Enders together with Silly singer Anna Loos and released on September 9, 2011 as the third single. Both competed with the song at the Bundesvision Song Contest 2011 for Lower Saxony and took 3rd place. The song was able to place itself at number 35 in the German single charts. The single also has an acoustic version of the song. In iTunes live versions of the songs are also Yipi and the night to get.
metropolis
The video premiere for Metropole took place on November 11, 2011. The video was shot spontaneously on a large intersection in Shibuya within 15 minutes. Metropole was apparently not officially released as a single.
criticism
“ You are probably the best way to reproduce the overall mood of Bosses fourth work. Melancholy? Yes gladly. Why not. But then please be relaxed and fluffy paired with a good shot of confidence. [...] Axel Bosse has something to say and does so in what is probably the best song he has written so far. [...] If you want an invitation to reflect and dream, you will get it here honestly and without embarrassment. [...] And so Bosse tells stories that everyone has somehow experienced themselves. Sometimes more, sometimes less on the verge of kitsch. From insomnia, low-cost airlines, limp potatoes, crying hip-hop girls, from being drunk, going away and coming back. "
“On 'Waiting Room' the listener will find intelligently arranged indie pop and rock with a melancholy touch. The work captivates with clever, sensitive texts that are taken directly from life. "
“It ignites this new album by Axel Bosse, even if some will have problems with the noble pop glaze. But 'Waiting Room' has become a full-bodied album that also shows different facets, and he wears his heart on his tongue when it comes to the lyrics. No big twisted sentences, rather straightforward, yet not bold and clumsy, but clever. "
“The waiting room wants to give Bosse an absolute breakthrough. That is precisely why musical pleasure is so important. You can tell from the lyrics that Bosse goes to work with a lot of ambition, of course getting bogged down in it or declaiming banal, poetic empty phrases. A handful of songs can avert the misfortune, reconcile those listener with the album who does not immediately puff up little thoughts from Lieschen Müller. To sound unconventionally conventional, such a demeanor does not look good on Bosse. Even single strong songs don't hide that. "
