The Tech (in Catalan Tec ) is a coastal river in southern France that runs in the Pyrénées-Orientales department in the Occitania region . It rises in the Pyrenees , near the Spanish border, on the southeast flank of the Roc Colom summit (2507 m), in the municipality of Prats-de-Mollo-la-Preste . The Tech generally drains in a north-easterly direction, initially through the landscape of the Haut Vallespir , later through the Roussillon plain and flows into the Mediterranean after 84 kilometers in the municipality of Argelès-sur-Mer . In the lower reaches, the river is blocked by many impoundments and water drains. The estuary is located in the Mas Larrieu nature reserve .
