Teorama is a municipality ( municipio ) in Departamento de Norte Santander in Colombia .
geography
Teorama is located in the Occidente region in Norte de Santander at an altitude of 1158 meters, 274 km from Cúcuta . The municipality borders in the north of the state of Zulia in Venezuela and Convención , in the east Tibú , El Tarra and San Calixto , in the south Ocaña and in the west González in the department del Cesar and Convención.

history
Teorama was originally inhabited by indigenous peoples . The first settlement by Spanish-born settlers took place from 1745, the first permanent settlement from 1779. Teorama has been a parish since 1812. Teorama received the status of a community in 1817.
economy
The main industries of Teorama are agriculture (in particular pineapples , coffee , cocoa , sugar cane , beans , bananas and citrus fruits are grown) and animal husbandry .
