The territorial prelate Marajó ( Latin Praelatura Territorialis Maraiensis , Portuguese Prelazia de Marajó ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic territorial prelate based in Soure in the state of Pará . It includes the island of Marajó and the mainland parts of the 16 municipalities (Municípios) that make up the Mesorregião do Marajó administrative district , and extends over an area of ​​86,477 km².

history

The territorial prelature Marajó was on April 14, 1928 by Pope Pius XI. built with the papal bull Romanus Pontifex from cession of territory of the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará and subordinated to this as a suffragan .
