Testify (in English: "testify", "testify" or "announce") is the seventh studio album by the British singer Phil Collins . It was released in November 2002 and reached number three in the German charts, number two in Switzerland , number 5 in Austria and number 15 in Great Britain.
background
Testify was created over a period of two years in Switzerland, where Collins was then living. It was recorded in France and the USA with producer Rob Cavallo . Collins had recorded Dance into the Light without a drum machine. On Testify , on the other hand, you can hear one again. The first single, Can't Stop Loving You , is a cover by Leo Sayer , in the original I Can't Stop Loving You (Though I Try) . Otherwise the pieces are mostly ballad-like and follow a simple stanza-refrain scheme.
criticism
- The website Laut.de wrote: "As worn out and used up the common knitting patterns may be, the little bald man obviously feels right at home in them." The album was given three stars out of five.
