The Dudesons (AKA Extreme Duudsonit ) called a Finnish reality - TV show . It first aired in Finland in January 2001 and is about four friends from the Finnish town of Seinäjoki . The series offers a combination of performance made up of stunts , comedy and reality.
Beginnings, origins, success
The four friends
- Jarno "Jarppi" Leppälä (born on August 11, 1979),
- Jarno Laasala (born September 19, 1979),
- Jukka Hildén (born August 3, 1980) and
- Hannu-Pekka "HP" Parviainen (born on August 18, 1981)
started filming parts of their lives in the 90s: parties, sports activities, funny pranks and stunts and making films from them. Since the four of them were interested in snowboarding , skateboarding and downhill mountain biking at a very young age , these activities naturally also flowed into their films.
In January 2000, Laasala started working as a writer for a small television station. He took this as an opportunity to design his own format. He and his three friends started making small films in Seinäjoki and Helsinki. Completed in August 2000, The Dudesons came on television as the first season with the surtitle Maailmankiertue (world tour) in January 2001 and switched to a larger broadcaster in August of the same year. The second season, entitled Extreme Duudsonit, Maailmaniertue 2, followed in 2002, which was followed in the following two years by seasons three (Maailmankiertue 3) and four ((Duudsoni Elämää). The first episodes broadcast by MoonTV were among the most popular programs The second season, which aired in 2002, was voted media event of the year by readers of the youth magazine Suosikki, which is popular in Finland .
Recurring elements within the individual episodes include "the human dartboard", "Mr. Hitler playing pranks ”and lots of stunts in which the Dudesons disregard their own safety.

International publication
In 2003 the Dudesons decided to create their films for international marketing too, so that they were no longer shot in Finnish but also in English. From 2003 the series was also translated into other languages. The English version made its debut in February 2006 on the Australian Channel . In September 2007 The Dudesons were shown in 22 different countries. In 2008 the second season started worldwide; In 2010, episodes of the series ran in 150 countries. The Dudesons is the most popular Finnish series of all time.
The Dudesons made a guest appearance on Jackass 3D in 2010 alongside Johnny Knoxville .

The Dudesons in America
After the third and fourth seasons had been broadcast on the Finnish TV station Sub, The Dudesons came into contact with Jackass producer and crew member Johnny Knoxville during the filming of the fourth season in particular . After he recognized the potential of the Dudesons , he signed them for a new show, The Dudesons in America . This series is produced partly by the Finnish producer Rabbit Films and partly by MTV and Dickhouse. Knoxville said that he was honored to do a show with the Dudesons, they had balls where you suspect the brain.

The Dudesons - The Movie
The Dudesons film was released in Finland in 2005 and was distributed on DVD in numerous countries. It had its cinema premiere in the USA in July 2006. Despite mixed reviews, it received the Jussi , Finland's national film award, one of the oldest film awards in Europe, with 47% of the votes . The film received 75% approval from RottenTomatoes with 8,339 ratings.
Live show, Gumball 3000
The four are also successful with their live performances in which they perform live stunts. In 2002 they toured Finland with it.
With a three-part series filmed by them in 2013, the Dudesons took part in Gumball 3000 . The show was broadcast on the Extreme Sports Channel and accompanied the Finns on their journey in a blue Cadillac SUV, which took them through seven countries from London to Istanbul, starting from Copenhagen via Paris, Barcelona, Monaco, Venice and Belgrade led to Istanbul. A Kimi Raikkonen racing helmet worn by Jukka almost caused a traffic jam for the last hundred kilometers . The Dudesons had their wheel of fortune in their luggage, which was part of their repeated pranks. The Finns were awarded the Spirit of Gumball.
Plans for 2018
In November 2017, Rabbit Films announced that the original format had been sold by Rabbit Films to Youtube Red, bringing this adventure reality series to the US market. An ultimate expedition leads eight celebrities and the presenter Jukka Hildén without mountaineering experience to the 20,000-foot-high mountain Tocllaraju in Peru . Rabbit Films produced the ten episodes for YouTube. The episodes will be broadcast exclusively on YouTube Red in 2018.
Rabbit Films
The series The Dudesons is produced by the film company Rabbit Films , founded by Jarno Laasala in 2000 , which is in the hands and under the direction of the four main actors. The partner company Rabbit Films Merchandise sells the Dudesons fan articles. The company was originally responsible for the production and distribution of the Dudeson television shows as well as all activities related to the Dudesons. It is now one of the leading independent manufacturing companies in Finland. Rabbit Films has offices in Helsinki and Hollywood.
