action

The young prostitute Cindy is found tied up in a house and freed by the police. She reports that she was caught and raped by a man named Robert Hansen. The local police do not pursue the matter at first. Robert Hansen is a "respectable" married man and friends have given him an alibi. There have been a number of young women who have disappeared, but the police dismiss it by saying that they could simply have left the state of Alaska. It wasn't until Sgt. Jack Halcombe began investigating the murders that the investigation made progress. Halcombe asks Cindy again, who tells him about her imprisonment and the torture of the staid Hansen. Halcombe has to deal with his investigation, however, with his superior, who puts obstacles in his way.

Parallel to the investigation, you can see Hansen committing another murder: he kidnaps a young woman, flies with her in a small plane into the remote forests, and hunts and shoots her there like a piece of game. Hansen goes back to the strip club where Cindy works. Cindy panics and wants to leave Alaska. Halcombe, desperate to get an arrest warrant, asks Cindy to stay and help him. To protect her, Halcombe suggests his wife take Cindy in, but she refuses. Desperate, Cindy leaves the Halcombes' home and is taken back by Jack Halcombe after nearly killing herself with drugs.

Hansen now puts criminals on Cindy, who almost murder her. Despite the thin evidence, Halcombe receives a search and arrest warrant. In Hansen's house he finds weapons and a map on which Hansen ticked “Hunting grounds” - places where bodies were found. When he pressures him and Cindy bursts into the investigation room, Hansen finally collapses and yells at Cindy that he should have killed her. The film ends with references to the fate of Hansen, who confessed to 17 murders and was sentenced to over 461 years in prison. The film is dedicated to the known and unknown murder victims of Hansen.
