action

Tony Stark's friend James “Rhodey” Rhodes is leading an excavation in China to unearth a city believed to be lost. But a terrorist group called Jade Dragons tries to prevent the excavation; Rhodey is kidnapped during the last violent action by the rebel group. When Tony, who meanwhile has trouble with his father and the board of Stark Enterprises, learns about it, he immediately travels to China and is also captured there by the rebel troops. Badly injured, he is rescued by Rhodey and a Chinese medicine man. The medicine man explains to Tony what the Jade Dragons are all about . They want to prevent the awakening of the Mandarin who ruled China 3,000 years ago. Tony befriends Li Mei. The rebel is a direct descendant of the Mandarin and her father was the last dignitary to pass the gift on to his son. However, since Li Mei remained his only child, she sneaked into the Jade Dragons . The excavation will summon four warriors who will reflect the elements . They start looking for 4 rings.

Tony is blackmailed by the Jade Dragons into building a device that will submerge the city. However, he and Rhodey secretly put together armor and plan their escape. In the event of a confrontation, it is Li Mei who ultimately helps the two to escape. Back in the United States, Tony and Rhodey are accused of fabricating arms deliveries to the rebels so that the police are after them. However, Tony manages to sneak into a secret laboratory in which the armor is stored that can also be used as weapons. He and Rhodey decide to recover the four rings and so stop the mandarin. In fact, he can salvage a ring and destroy three of the elementals. For the final confrontation, he has to return to China, where he works with Li Mei. When he destroys the last ghost and has all four rings with him, he hands them over to Li Mei. However, Tony deceives this and in turn conjures the Mandarin. Tony has to fight a kite while Li Mei contacts the Mandarin. The dragon can almost stop Tony, but Tony survives seriously injured. Meanwhile, the Mandarin took possession of Li Mei. However, Tony can convince her to resist the Mandarin. She takes the rings off again and so the mandarin disappears again. However, he emits one final beam of energy that kills Li Mei.

Back in the United States, Tony is acquitted of all charges. He can also resolve the dispute with his father.
