The Pollywogs are a German punk rock band from Cologne .

history

Founded by Bryan Kessler ( guitar , vocals ), the band previously existed as a punk band called Naturwunder . When the band was formed, the members were between 14 and 15 years old.

In 2006, natural wonders dissolved and Bryan Kessler founded The Pollywogs .

The band counts 1970s punk rock and the music of The Libertines and Tocotronic among their influences . They gave their first concerts in the Cologne area, followed by appearances in Leipzig and Nuremberg . In 2009, her song Whole Life in a Pocket was used as music for a commercial for the margarine brand Lätta . In the same year they won the Beck’s Music Experience band contest and then went on tour with actor Oliver Korittke , during which they supported Arctic Circle 18 , Bad Lieutenant and The Hives .

The lyrics of the band come from the pen of Bryan Kessler, who published the poetry book Wahngold together with Rick Reuther in February 2010 . The band released their debut album Dirty Words & Dirty Sex on November 12, 2010 . In 2011 Bryan Kessler published the volume of poetry Pollygamie with six other artists . After her tour of completed was song We are here to fuck with you for the opener ZDFneo telecast neoParadise , a successor to the former MTV Home with Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer circulation . Shortly afterwards, their EP Your Music Is Shit Go Die will be released in 2012 on the TRO / ENTERTAIN label , which was limited to 400 copies in vinyl format . The band's sound evolved into a modern form of grunge . As a result, the Pollywogs went on tour in Germany in spring 2012 with the US band Cloud Nothings , which were also dubbed a “Neo-Grunge” band. November 2012 the single "Nutella" was released with the accompanying music video, which was interpreted as "political art" by VICE magazine .
