The Theodor Fliedner School in Wiesbaden-Bierstadt is a G9 grammar school . The school was named after the Protestant pastor and founder of the Kaiserswerther Diakonie Georg Heinrich Theodor Fliedner . About 60 teachers and trainees teach about 850 students.

history

The construction of the Theodor Fliedner School began on June 18, 1963. After construction was completed on October 18, 1965, lessons began with ten secondary school classes and one secondary school class from levels 5 to 9. On August 1, 1970, the Theodor Fliedner School was officially expanded to become a school-type ( cooperative ) comprehensive school . The steadily growing number of schoolchildren made structural expansion imperative. On February 8, 1974, the large new wing and in June 1977 the large sports hall (28.5 m × 45 m) were inaugurated. The Bierstadt district library adjacent to the new school building was opened on September 19, 1975. In the years 2001–2004 the main building of the Theodor Fliedner School was completely renovated due to asbestos exposure . As part of this renovation, the science and media rooms were completely redesigned. New window and floor coverings as well as modern school furniture were purchased for the older brick building. On August 24, 2009, at the start of the school year, the Theodor Fliedner School was converted from a cooperative comprehensive school into a G8 grammar school. The Theodor Fliedner School has been an all-day school , profile 2, since the 2012/13 school year . In September 2016, it was decided to return to the nine-year grammar school course.

The subject rooms for biology, chemistry and physics classes and other classrooms are located on the upper floor of the main building.
