Theodora Bauer

Theodora Bauer (born July 14, 1990 in Vienna ) is an Austrian author .

Life

Theodora Bauer graduated from the Kurzwiese grammar school in Eisenstadt in 2008 . She then began studying journalism and communication studies and a year later studying philosophy at the University of Vienna , where she obtained a bachelor's degree in journalism and communication studies in 2013 and a bachelor's degree in philosophy in 2015. In 2016 she took part in the 20th Klagenfurt literature course as part of the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize with the manuscript for her second novel “Chicago”.

Her debut novel “Das Fell der Tante Meri” made it into the top ten on the ORF best list in March 2014 and was one of ten titles on the shortlist of the Alpha literary award . In the essay “Così fanno i filosofi” in 2016 she dealt with the two Mozart operas Così fan tutte and Don Giovanni . In 2017, her second novel, “Chikago” - was published after the settlement of the same name in Kittsee , which is reminiscent of Burgenland emigrants of the 1920s.

In 2016 she published the play papier.waren.pospischil at Schultz & Schirm Bühnenverlag . In September 2017 the text won the drama competition for new comedies announced by the Salzburg State Theater and was premiered in March 2019 in the Kammerspiele of the State Theater with Britta Bayer as Hannelore Pospischil, Nikola Rudle as their employee Melli and Walter Sachers as police officer Heinrich.

Further texts were published in the literary magazines kolik , & Radieschen , Podium and manuskripte , among others . At the Mattersburg Literature House she runs a writing workshop for young people. In August 2018, she premiered her crime drama On the Eve at Reichenauer Thalhof .

Since September 6, 2018, she has alternated with Alfred Komarek to present the literaTOUR program on ServusTV .
