Thomas Richter (sculptor)

Thomas Richter (* 1942 in Chemnitz ) is a German architect , painter and sculptor .

Live and act

Richter grew up in Hohenstein-Ernstthal and Rostock . Since 1956 he was a student of the graphic artist Armin Münch in Rostock. After graduating from high school in 1960 in Lichtenstein / Sa. he left the GDR and studied architecture and building history at the Technical University of Berlin until 1964 , painting with Vincenz Pieper and sculpture with Erich Fritz Reuter . He then worked as an architect in Nuremberg and Erlangen while studying art history , archeology and philosophy in Erlangen.

Since 1972 he has been working as a freelance artist.

Solo exhibitions

Participation in exhibitions

  • 1990: Nuremberg: ART 5 ; Berlin-Steglitz, Art Cooperative: International symposium and performances on understanding borders: TheWallInside.
  • 1995: City Museum Erlangen : Internat. Exhibition on the topic: "Crossing Borders". This was then shown in Padua, Stoke on Trent and London.
  • 2000: Heidenheim, at the artist symposium ARCHE-2000 in the old Benedictine monastery: "From heavy to light", sculptural installation and sound-text performance with the participation of Wu-Wei (mouth organ) and Reinhard Knodt (texts).
  • 2007: Tarnowskie Góry (Pl) culture days for the district partnerships Erlangen / Höchstadt and Tarnowskie Gory: exhibitions, performance; Tarnowskie Gory (Pl), Internat. Symposium "Srebrem Pisane" (written in silver), organized by the "Friends of the Tarnowitz Land" on the "Dni Gwarkow".

  • 1995: Erlangen-Büchenbach , regular kindergarten: sculptural designs of the surrounding walls and gates (competition).
  • 1996: Burgwindheim : HolzFachZentrum Vogel: Design of the exhibition and seminar rooms, sculptural designs in the outdoor area.
  • 2001: Erlangen: Fifty-Fifty-Cabaret-Theater: wall installation outside.
  • 2002: Erlangen- Frauenaurach : day care center: ensemble of figures in the open air area; Erlangen: "Artists shape their city", flag for the city anniversary of Erlangen.
  • 2003: Erlangen: Office for Culture and Leisure, interior design in the museum corner.
  • 2004: Erlangen: At the Fifty-Fifty-Cabaret-Theater: figure ensemble for the Commedia dell'arte.
