Thorsten Wirth (born June 5, 1968 in Langenberg ) is a German software developer and was chairman of the Pirate Party Germany from November 2013 to June 2014 .

Life

Wirth studied physics and computer science for natural scientists in Bielefeld , but did not graduate. By his own admission, he worked as a programmer.

From 2006 to summer 2014 Thorsten Wirth was a member of the Pirate Party. He was a co-founder of the State Association of Hesse. For the state elections in Hesse in 2008 , the Pirate Party ran for the first time in Germany with Thorsten Wirth as the top candidate and state chairman. For the European elections in Germany in 2009 he ran for fourth place in the federal list. From 2009 to 2010 he was an assessor on the national board of pirates. For the general election in 2013 , he joined in the constituency 182 Frankfurt I to. In November 2013 he was elected national chairman with 78.1% at the federal party conference in Bremen . In June 2014, Stefan Körner succeeded him in this position. Wirth resigned from the party that same summer.

Until its dissolution in October 2014, he worked as a consultant for the ELF Piraten faction in Frankfurt's Römer .
