Timerliit [ tˢiˌmɜˈɬːiːtˢʰ ] (according to the old spelling Timerdlît ) is a Greenlandic shepherd settlement in the district of Narsaq in the municipality of Kujalleq .
location
Timerliit lies in the middle of the Tasikuluulik (Vatnahverfi) lake area , surrounded by other shepherd settlements. The next larger town is Igaliku , which is 16 km north. The settlement is located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kujataa and has ruins of the Grænlendingar . Timerliit is also the only settlement in Greenland where cattle are kept.
Population development
Timerliit has only been inhabited since 1992. The settlement now had a dozen residents, but the last count was only four. The last known population of the shepherd settlements was for 2013. Timerliit is statistically listed under "Farms near Igaliku".
