Death of a carrier pigeon is a German television film - crime thriller from 2012 .

action

The private detective Finn Zehender has withdrawn to the small village of Aschberg, where he won a farm from the estate of a murder victim in a memory competition in a previous case ( Murderous Wasp's Nest ) . Unfortunately the farm is still in debt with 150,000 euros. The foreclosure auction is due within 72 hours. We need money. Instead, the amnesiac former policeman Mühlfellner appears, who wants to prove to Zehender that his gun is not loaded. He shoots in the air and kills a carrier pigeon . The pigeon was carrying a message from a kidnap victim, Lars Döbbelin. Zehender has his case.

Lars' father, the millionaire Jürgen Döbbelin, is supposed to pay three million euros to the kidnappers. Zehender offers the father to get it back from the kidnappers for a bonus of 7.5% of the ransom - a task that, according to him, would not have a priority for the LKA involved in the handover . This would save his court. However, complications arise when the money is handed over. Mühlfellner, dragged into the case by Zehender, is captured and the ransom demand increased. For the next handover, the LKA has to procure the additional million required, since the victim's father cannot raise the money. After the bank branch charged with the payout is not aware of this, Zehnender demands the sum at gunpoint and the chaos takes its course.

Reviews

"Another comedic crime film for detective Zehender who can do his job with witty wit, whereby his photographic memory proves to be extremely helpful."

“The characters do not look smoothly ironed, but rather captivate with their peculiar, angular traits - above all the main actor Hinnerk Schönemann. A rather unusual story that is less about a reflection of reality than about good gags and a lot of bizarre things. "

“The well-cast detective story shines less with an original plot than with laconic situational comedy and puns . [...] Not every gag ignites, some punch lines are as flat as the land behind the dike, but the film definitely offers 90 entertaining minutes of crime thriller entertainment. "

“Imboden and Schmidt also enjoy using genre set pieces, well-known motifs and slightly crazy dialogues from conventional thrillers with great enthusiasm for pointless fooling around. You can find that wonderfully bizarre and subtle - or just nonsensical. Not every gag ignites as dryly as it is intended; sometimes sheer silliness gallops away. That is also intended. You don't necessarily have to follow the example of the Coen brothers here. In any case, watching Hinnerk Schönemann, Thomas Thieme and the ensemble with Daniela Schulz, Katja Danowski, Karoline Eichhorn and Jan-Gregor Kremp fail to invent the deep plate is fun. But it can also cause pain that is difficult to treat for more serious crime lovers looking for the claim. "
