Sebastian Rudolph (* 1968 in Berlin ) is a German theater and film actor .

Life

He is the son of the actress Hildegard Schmahl and the director Niels-Peter Rudolph and the brother of the director Hannah Rudolph . He lives and works in Hamburg.

After completing his acting training in Hamburg in 1989, he received the greatest attention in the early 1990s for his roles in the comedy Manta - The Film and the war drama Stalingrad . Since then he has appeared in over 35 films. Rudolph has regular appearances in television series such as Tatort , Doppelter Einsatz , Wolffs Revier , Der Alte or Schloßhotel Orth . He played Rudolf Augstein in The Spiegel Affair , an ARD production that was broadcast in spring 2014.

His theater engagements took him to the Theater Basel , the Berliner Ensemble , the Schaubühne in Berlin , the Volksbühne Berlin , the Schauspielhaus Hamburg , the Schauspielhaus Zürich , Kampnagel in Hamburg and the Burgtheater Vienna. He worked with directors such as Luc Bondy , Schorsch Cameroon , Christoph Marthaler , Stefan Pucher , Falk Richter , Christoph Schlingensief and Robert Wilson . Sebastian Rudolph has been a permanent member of the Thalia Theater Hamburg ensemble since the 2009/2010 season . Among other things, he played in Faust I + II directed by Nicolas Stemann , who was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen 2012 and was selected for the production of the year 2012. Sebastian Rudolph will be a member of the ensemble at the Schauspielhaus Zürich from the 2019/2020 season.

For his portrayal in Faust I + II, Rudolph was voted Actor of the Year 2012 by Theater heute magazine's annual critics survey.
