Todd Johnson (born February 2, 1972 in Regina , Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who has been working as a coach since retiring.
Career
player
Todd Johnson began his career with the Western Hockey League club Moose Jaw Warriors . He played other seasons in the WHL for the Kamloops Blazers and the Red Deer Rebels . He then studied at the University of Calgary and played from the 1995/1996 season for the university's ice hockey team, the Calgary Dinos , in the CIAU . In 1998 he moved to Wichita Thunder for the CHL play-offs .
For the 1999/2000 season Johnson moved to EHC Neuwied and played there until the club went bankrupt. Then he was active for the third division EV Duisburg until the end of the season . The 2000/01 season he began at Gelsenkirchen EC , before the GEC team was withdrawn from the game in October 2000 due to financial problems. He then moved within the league to Deggendorfer EC . He stayed with DEC until the end of the 2001/02 season and completed 90 major league games for the club.
In the 2002/03 season he played again in the USA for Wichita Thunder before he moved again to Neuwied for the 2003/04 season, to what was then SC Mittelrhein-Neuwied. After the end of the season he ended his playing career.
Trainer
Since 2010 Johnson has been assistant coach of the Western Hockey League team Kootenay Ice , with whom he won the championship title in 2011.
