Tomáš Papiorek (born October 5, 1984 in Bohumín , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech natural track luge . At first he only drove in a single-seater and in the last two years of his career started in a two-seater together with Petr Pulcer . From 2000 to 2004 he took part in world cup races as well as in world and European championships .
Career
Tomáš Papiorek had his first international appearance at the Junior World Championship in 1999 in Hüttau , where he was 26th in the single seater. In the next winter he took part in addition to the Junior European Championships in Umhausen , where he finished 28th, also in the World Championships 2000 in Olang , where he reached 48th place out of 60 rated tobogganers. Finally, he made his debut in the World Cup at the end of the 1999/2000 season . At the final in Fénis , he finished in 25th place in front of his teammates Lukáš Ševít and Petr Pulcer, third from bottom .
In the 2000/2001 season , Papiorek only started in the last World Cup race and again he achieved third from bottom in front of two teammates. In the 2001/2002 season he already took part in the last two of the six World Cup races, in which he finished 33th and 37th in the bottom field. At the 2001 World Championships in Stein an der Enns , he achieved 25th place out of 29 evaluated tobogganists and 29th place out of 32 tobogganists at the European Junior Championships in Tiers . The next year he achieved 34th place among 42 rated tobogganers at the 2002 European Championships in Frantschach-Sankt Gertraud and 28th place among 35 starters at the Junior World Championships in Gsies .
In the 2002/2003 season , Papiorek took part in four of the six World Cup races. With two 25th, a 29th and a 30th place, he left up to four tobogganers behind. In the overall World Cup, he was able to improve significantly to 27th place thanks to the higher number of starts compared to previous years in which he was not among the top 40. In the next winter he only took part in two World Cup races, which he finished in 31st and 28th place. In the 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 seasons, Tomáš Papiorek and Petr Pulcer also took part in a total of four World Cup races in a two-seater. With a tenth, two eleventh and a twelfth place, the duo was never better than third from bottom. At the 2003 World Championships in Železniki , Papiorek came in 38th place out of 48 tobogganists. like Petr Pulcer, he did not take part in the 2004 European Championship . After the 2003/2004 season, both Tomáš Papiorek and Petr Pulcer ended their careers.
