Tom Georgeson decided to become an actor after playing Laertes in a school play of Hamlet . In the 1960s he received his first theater roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theater . In his native Liverpool, he performed with Alun Armstrong , David Bradley , Bernard Hill and Jonathan Pryce in the early 1970s . During this time he played a play by Alan Bleasdale , also from Liverpool , who wrote the scripts for the television series Boys from the Blackstuff and GBH , in which Georgeson would later participate.
The actor was seen in numerous British series from the 1970s and soon in several television and cinema films, where he mostly played supporting roles. He got a recurring role in the science fiction series Doctor Who . Tom Georgeson became known to a wider audience through his impersonation of "George Thomason" in the crime comedy A Fish Named Wanda (1988). In addition to his work for film and television, he occasionally continued to work in the theater. In 2002 he was nominated for the Evening Standard Theater Award for his performance in the play Frozen at the Royal National Theater . In the television series Bleak House (2005) based on Dickens , Georgeson played the role of "Clamb". Diary of a Scandal (2006) is one of his more famous late movies .
