Tomaz Kovacic

Tomaz Kovacic (* in Slovenj Gradec ) is a Slovenian - Austrian opera singer ( baritone ).

Career

After graduating from high school, Kovacic received his first vocal training from the soprano Dušanka Simonović , who had gained her experience at the opera houses in Split and Belgrade .

He began his studies in 1996 as a guest student in the subject “Opera” at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (then a university).

During his studies he already appeared in several roles in various branches of opera and oratorio, which took him to the Graz Opera House , the Maribor Opera House , the Musical Comedy in Leipzig and the Lehár Festival Bad Ischl .

In 2002 he completed his vocal studies with Claudia Rüggeberg with a bachelor's degree , completing it in 2006 in the subject of “opera” with a Mag. Art. and got his second Mag. art. 2008 in the subject “Lied and Oratorio” summa cum laude .

After completing his studies, he devoted himself to rarities in opera and oratorio history, such as the opera “ Der Rauchfangkehrer ” by Antonio Salieri or the oratorio “ Deborah ” by Georg Friedrich Händel .

Kovacic attended master classes with Marjana Lipovsek and Christa Ludwig and expanded his stage repertoire at the opera and the Schauspielhaus Graz to include spoken theater and musicals.

Tomaz Kovacic has been permanently engaged at the Musiktheater Linz since 2015 . In Linz he also had several appearances at the Landestheater and at the Bruckner Festival , where he sang under conductors such as Dennis Russell Davies , Takeshi Moriuchi , Markus Poschner , Gerrit Prießnitz , Guy Reibel and Leslie Suganandarajah .

In 2018 he played as "Jesus" at the world premiere of Michael Stenov's Easter Oratorio in the parish church of St. Peter in Linz / Spallerhof.
