Tommy Lycén (born October 5, 1981 in Rångedala , Västra Götalands län ) is a Swedish football player . The midfielder made his debut in Swedish professional football in 2005 and has since played over 100 games in Allsvenskan and Superettan .

Career

Lycén started playing football at the local club Rångedala IK . From there in 1997 he moved to the youth department of Brämhults IF . In 2003 he moved to the then third division club Grimsås IF . For the club he ran two seasons and made a name for himself in higher-class Swedish football. Västra Frölunda IF , Örebro SK and IF Elfsborg expressed interest in signing, Lycén opted for IFK Göteborg . On May 2, 2005, he made his debut in the Allsvenskan when he was substituted on for George Mourad in the 1-1 draw at Landskrona BoIS in the 70th minute . However, it remained his only stake in the entire season, so that he was loaned to Umeå FC in the second-rate Superettan for the following season . Here he was able to establish himself as a regular and was in the starting line-up in 26 of the 30 season games. At the end of the season he was named the club's best player of the year. Not least because of this, he made himself interesting for other clubs and returned as a player from IF Brommapojkarna to the Allsvenskan, where he signed a two-year contract. In the first few games he was still in the starting line-up, but soon lost his regular place. Therefore, he left the club in the summer on loan to second division Örgryte IS .

In November 2007 GAIS announced the commitment of Lycén. At first he found himself on the bench at his new employer and was mainly used as a substitute. He was only in the starting line-up in the summer of 2008 and scored his first first division goal a short time later in the 1-1 draw against GIF Sundsvall on July 20, 2008 with the goal of the 1-0 interim result in stoppage time, but could not make himself permanent fix. At the beginning of the 2009 season he became a regular under the new coach Alexander Axén and, despite being sent off in the game against Trelleborgs FF, made 21 league appearances during the season. In the following season he wavered between substitute bench and starting eleven. In October, the midfielder, whose contract expired at the end of the season, tore his Achilles tendon . However, the association announced in November that it would offer him a short-term contract depending on the recovery process. At the end of November, he finally signed a short-term contract with the club, but remained without a game in the following six months.

After his contract with GAIS expired in the summer of 2011, Lycén joined the Gothenburg local rival Örgryte IS at the end of July. At his former club, after a license withdrawal, he is now in the third division Division 1 , he signed a contract until the end of the season with the option of a one-year extension. Initially a regular player for a long time, he found himself increasingly on the bench in his second year at the club. Despite a successful return to the second division in late 2012, he was one of five players in January 2013 from whom the club split.
