Tonk ( Hindi : टोंक जिला) is a district in the western Indian state of Rajasthan .

The area is 7194 km². The administrative seat is the city of the same name Tonk .

The population was 1,421,326 at the 2011 census, 10 years earlier it was 1,211,671. The gender ratio was 952 women for 1,000 men. The literacy rate was 61.58% (77.12% for men, 45.45% for women). 87.49% of the population were Hindu , 10.77% Muslim , 1.58% followers of Jainism .
