Torgelow-Holländerei , also called Torgelow-Holl , is a district of the town of Torgelow in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in eastern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).

The place extends between the west bank of the lower Uecker and the forest area Jädkemühler Forst for about 9 km between Liepgarten and Torgelow.

history

In 1619, at the beginning of the Thirty Years' War , the area of ​​the lower Uecker should be settled with colonists from the Danzig area. The area of ​​the mouth of the Vistula near Danzig was originally settled by the Dutch, who introduced the Dutch settlement model there, which was associated with loose building and the draining of marshy meadows. This model was transferred from there to the Uecker. So the name only has something to do with settlers from Holland.

Between 1775 and 1777, on the initiative of King Friedrich II. Dominal Holländereien, leaseholds in widely spaced residential areas. In 1836 this long lease was converted into free property.

Transport links

Torgelow-Holländerei is located between the three towns of Ueckermünde , Eggesin and Torgelow. From these places there is a rail connection to Pasewalk .
