The 3rd Tour of Britain was a cycling stage race that ran from August 29 to September 3, 2006 . It was held in six stages and was part of the UCI Europe Tour 2006 .

On the 5th stage the drivers went on a "slow strike". In the neutralized phase at the beginning of the stage, the field was led in the wrong direction. The police had taken a wrong turn, which is why the entire field of drivers came off the track. After the field stopped, drivers and officials discussed for almost half an hour how to proceed. When the race was resumed, the field drove at a slow pace up to 30 kilometers from the finish in protest against the organizational breakdown and the lack of barriers on the route.

After the tour ended, the drivers were rather critical of the organization. Especially since the 2007 Tour de France will start in Great Britain.
